Web design is the creation of a web page to solve a communication problem. It's about marketing a product, selling a service and persuading people.
Before I design the pages of a website, its important to discuss the primary purpose and goals of your website.
It's vital that we identify your target customer and design the website with only your target customer in mind.
During this process, I'll also look at your competitors websites, learn from their good points and avoid their mistakes.
Only when we understand all the above can we draw-up an effective site-map.
As much as we'd like to think the visitors to our websites will digest our every word, the reality is most visitors will quickly scan a web page without actually reading the content.
If your visitors don't instantly understand your offer, or they don't trust or believe your sales pitch, then your website is a waste of your money.
Therefore, its really important to keep your message clear and concise. (No waffle or jargon).
Your website needs to subtly coax the visitor to come to their own conclusions about why they should use your product or service.
It's no use ramming home your sales pitch with bold fonts and exclamation marks, all this will do is trigger mistrust or friction. (By nature we're a suspicious bunch).
If your message is carefully planned, quantifiable and believable, then your visitor should conclude (for themselves) that they want your product or service.
