I work full-time from my home, so my overheads (and my fees) are much lower than those large web design studios in their office suites.
Every website project (and the work that is required on my part) can vary considerably.
If you already have all of the text and images - great! However, if I'm required to write content or source photos then my fee will be a little higher.
To give you some very rough ballpark figures, my clients typically pay....
Web Design £200 - £500
Domain name £10 per year
Hosting £50 per year
Maintenance £70 per year
Today, it is vitally important that your website is mobile-friendly as more websites are viewed on hand-held devices than computers. I build fluid 'responsive' websites that always display pixel perfect on smart-phones, tablets and desktops.
The websites I produce are correctly optimised for search engines such as Google™. This is an important element of web design to ensure the highest possible search rankings.
I do not provide Content Management (CMS). However, I do offer a maintenance package which means I will make minor changes whenever they are requested. Typically this would be for changes such as updating photographs or changing areas of text.
To be perceived as credible and professional, you should be using a name@mydomain email address. I set-up domain-based email accounts and can configure your devices too.
I provide UK based web hosting for my clients. My hosting package is both faster and cheaper than the big boys such as GoDaddy or 1&1.
I first like to meet for an informal chat. We’ll discuss your business, your goals and what your website needs to do for you. We’ll also discuss your competitors and look at their websites to see what you admire about them. Once I have a good understanding of your business and your budget, I will produce a site-map of how your website can be structured, along with a written quote with my t&c's.
I’ll research your business sector and compile a mood-board of design elements that will be required on your new website. Colour palettes, typography and the component parts of each page will need to be considered, discussed and decided upon. Page layouts need to designed very differently for desktop and mobile, so this may also form part of our conversations, as what works on PC may not be suitable for mobile.
I’ll usually ask for some paragraphs of text to feature in the website. Don’t worry too much about the correct wording or grammar, I will tidy this up. It may be necessary to commission professional photographs, I can purchase professional stock photos if required.
